Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses tiny needles to puncture the skin to stimulate the skin’s natural healing process in order to promote the growth of new collagen and elastin. This can help with uneven texture, acne scarring, stretch marks, or wrinkles. We offer microneedling with both hyaluronic acid and platelet-rich plasma.
Those with active acne, eczema, or psoriasis are not good candidates.
As always, consultations are free.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrafine needles to create microinjuries in the skin. This stimulates the body’s natural healing response and encourages the creation of new collagen and elastin.
Microneedling can be used to help improve enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles, loose or crepey skin, acne scarring, skin discoloration, uneven skin tone and texture, and stretch marks. It can also be used to treat alopecia areata (hair loss due to an autoimmune disorder) and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
We always apply a topical numbing cream for thirty minutes prior to your treatment. While everyone’s pain tolerance is different, most say that the treatment is a bit uncomfortable, but definitely bearable. Most say it feels like a warm or scratching sensation, and is more uncomfortable when the needles are on bony areas, like the cheekbones.
You may be red and swollen for up to five days after the procedure, but you can return to your regular activities immediately. You may use ice packs or cold compresses for the swelling and pain as needed, and you will need to stay out of the sun until you have healed completely.
Most people need multiple treatments spaced three to eight weeks apart. We sell packages of three treatments, which is usually the recommended course.
Your skin will probably feel worse before it feels better; most people feel a burning sensation or some tightness, and may also have some skin flaking. Full results can be seen after three to six months.
BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
Avoid sun exposure and avoid waxing, bleaching or tweezing the treatment area. Avoid taking aspirin and ibuprofen one week before the treatment, as they can interfere with blood clotting.
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
Your skin will be red and irritated after the treatment for up to five days. You may use an ice pack or cold compress to help with any pain or swelling. You can apply makeup the day after the procedure. Avoid sun exposure until the redness has healed.
