IPL works by delivering powerful pulses of light energy to your skin. This energy is absorbed by the excess melanin and coagulated blood in broken blood vessels. Once absorbed, this light energy begins to break down these sources of discoloration, and they are naturally removed from your body. Because of the frequencies of the light used and the nature of this treatment, IPL therapy is only recommended for Fitzpatrick types I-IV.

The treatment requires a cooling gel be placed on the skin, which can help to mitigate the feel of the laser. The feeling has been compared to the snap of a rubber band.

Your skin may be red or swollen for a few hours, akin to the feeling of a sunburn. Wear sunscreen and avoid the sun until the redness and swelling goes away. Dark spots may appear darker for a little while. They will eventually fall off.

While everyone is different, you can generally expect to need between three and five treatments.

Results will begin to appear a few days after your first treatment. A few weeks after your first treatment, you may begin to see dark spots or broken blood vessels clear up. Results will continue to compound and improve with every treatment.

A single treatment is $300 for non-members and $240 for members. A package of three treatments is $750 for non-members and $600 for members.
