For most, the treatment can be described as mildly to moderately uncomfortable. Depending on what concern is being treated, your provider may apply a topical numbing cream to help with any discomfort.

The treatment itself takes between five and twenty minutes, depending on the area being treated. If you are being numbed, please add twenty minutes to the expected time frame.

Downtime varies depending on what is being treated. If treating melasma, there is little to no downtime. For more severe conditions, like sun damage, lines, and wrinkles, you will probably experience redness and swelling for a few hours. Afterwards, your skin will have the texture of sandpaper, which should naturally fall away within 5-7 days.

For skin resurfacing, two to three treatments will usually be enough to see significant improvement in the skin. Depending on the severity of the areas being treated, more treatments may be necessary to see desired results. Additionally, maintenance treatments every few months are recommended to keep up the results. For treatments of specific skin issues, such as age spots or freckles, a minimum of four treatments is generally recommended. For treatment of milia, between one and two treatments is usually sufficient.
