The Priapus shot (P-shot) uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood to increase cell regeneration and repair. The mechanism for PRP treatments is not well known, but it is believed that the high concentration of growth factors present in platelets helps to increase cell growth and regeneration. By injecting PRP into the penis, those growth factors concentrate regeneration and collagen production in the most needed areas.

When you arrive for your appointment, our phlebotomist will draw your blood. We will then spin your blood in a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the rest of your blood. This PRP is then drawn up and prepped for injection. We then prep you for the treatment by numbing the area with a localized anesthetic injection. Our highly trained nurse practitioner then injects your PRP into the areas identified as most in need of treatment. Because of the personalized nature of this treatment, the number and placement of the PRP injections can vary per person. Usually, you can expect a total of four to five injections.

We inject a localized anesthetic before treatment, so there is no pain associated with the PRP injections. There may be some discomfort or pressure associated with the treatment, and you may feel discomfort as the numbing agent wears off.

Every man is different, and every man’s needs are different. You will probably need more than one treatment to keep up the results you see from your first shot, but there is no standard regimen that applies to everyone. You should schedule another treatment when you begin to feel the benefits wear off. For many, this is a yearly treatment.

This will vary from person to person, but the general time frame to see results is between two days and three months. Your response to the treatment varies depending on how long your symptoms have been present before treatment, hormone levels, and other various individual differences.
